D&S 2017: China exhibits mobile EO vehicles

Henan-based China Electronics Technology Corporation (CETC) exhibited models and images of three new mobile ground-based electro-optical (EO) defence systems for ‘low, slow, small’ targets at this week’s Defence & Security 2017 expo, being held in Bangkok from 6-9 November.

The ‘O-Shield Comprehensive Electro-Optical Defence System’ is produced by the 27th Research Institute of CETC. The first model on display was a four-wheeled all-terrain vehicle that features a multi-wavelength detection system that includes radar, TV, IR and laser warning sensors. 

The radar has a detection range of 12km, EO tracking range of 9km and laser active countermeasure response of 7km. The
