DRS earns CMMI maturity level 3 rating
DRS Defense Solutions, LLC announced today that is has been appraised as fully compliant at a Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Maturity Level 3 for system engineering in addition to hardware and software engineering.
The CMMI rating is a critical evaluation factor in the acquisition of military programs with significant engineering development content. The Maturity Level 3 rating confirms that DRS Defense Solutions has established effective, well-defined systems, hardware and software development processes that meet all of the requirements for providing products to the Department of Defense for mission-critical applications.
"This achievement is a critical element in recognition of our engineering capabilities and demonstrates that we have the tools and processes in place to develop and integrate complex advanced systems," said Richard Danforth, president and CEO of DRS Defense Solutions.
"Implementing a set of industry-best-practice standards for our 1,100 engineers to apply to all design and development efforts ensures a consistently high measure of engineering rigor across our many facilities," noted Chris Lettiere, senior vice president of engineering. Those facilities include: Buffalo, N.Y.; Columbia, Md.; Cypress, Calif.; Danbury, Conn.; Dayton, Ohio; Denver, Colo.; Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; Gaithersburg, Md.; Herndon, Va.; Horsham, Penn.; Merrimack, N.H.; and West Melbourne, Fla.
