AUVSI 2018: Colorado’s wildfire operations aided by apps

Colorado's fire services are exploring the benefits that smartphone apps could bring in providing crews on the ground greater situational awareness in combating the wildfires that can occur in the state's arid landscape.

The research - being conducted by the Center of Excellence in Colorado's division of fire prevention and control - has been influenced by the US military's use of apps to aid awareness during operations. App-based solutions could provide wildfire UAS operators with improved decision-making for certain missions.
