The Brazilian Army is developing its own simulators to expand training capabilities in its armoured training centre and parachute brigade.

These simulators run alongside those bought from industry providers so that it can offer an extra level of training for the troops.

At the Armoured Training Centre (ATC) in Santa Maria, the army is working on developing its own Leopard 1A5 tank simulator for command and control at platoon and company level using VBS 3 software.

Called the Synthetic Armoured Trainer – or TSB system – it is being developed in partnership with a Brazilian company. Work started in 2013
