BEL exports three sonars to Myanmar
Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has exported three hull-mounted sonars to Myanmar, as announced by the Indian Ministry of Defence on 28 April.
The sonars were based on technology developed by the Indian Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). They were originally developed for the Indian Navy.
The DRDO transferred the technology for the hull-mounted sonar system to BEL for manufacture and supply to the navy.
According to the ministry, several other countries have expressed interest in acquiring DRDO-developed sonar systems and other products/systems such as radars, electronic warfare systems, bridging systems, missiles, torpedoes and more.
