BAE wins US Navy communications contract
BAE Systems has won a nine-year radio and communications system design and integration support contract from the US Navy, the company announced on 2 February.
The contract covers support for communication systems design and integration in 13 surface combatant ships of the navy.
The DDG VI radio communications systems contract has an initial value of $28.4 million and an estimated nine-year value of $187.4 million.
This contract will see experts from BAE Systems provide systems production, engineering and integration services for a DDG 1000 Zumwalt-class guided missile destroyer and 12 DDG 51 Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyers.
The work under this contract is part of the new construction programme of the navy. This programme will add new surface combatant ships with advanced capabilities into the naval fleet of the country. BAE Systems has been handling the RCS contract since 1985.
