BAE Systems continues F-35 EW system production
BAE Systems has been a contract from Lockheed Martin to produce and deliver additional EW systems for Lot 15 and Lot 16 production F-35 Lightning II aircraft.
The value of the deal was undisclosed. The contract also includes the provision of sustainment spares and retrofit kits for the fifth-generation F-35.
The overall aim is to ‘enhance situational awareness and threat response capabilities that support critical missions in contested airspace’, BAE Systems noted in a 14 September statement.
This is the latest in a series of F-35 EW-related contracts for BAE Systems, which has manufactured and delivered more than 500 EW systems to date for the F-35 as a key system partner for Lockheed Martin.
