The Australian government has moved ahead with a next-generation, land-based battlespace telecommunications network capability for the Australian Defence Force.
The DoD gave second pass approval for Project Land 2072 Phase 2B on 26 June, which has already seen a team comprising Boeing Defence Australia, Harris Communications Australia and engineering company GH Varley declared the preferred solution for the programme worth approximately AU$900 million (US$702 million).
Since the project was listed in the 2012 Defence Capability Plan, the cost of Phase 2B has risen from an originally expected AU$500 million.
