Australia awards lucrative Land 200 Tranche 2 contract

Australia announced approval for Project Land 200 Tranche 2 on 28 November. This wide-ranging programme valued at up to A$1.4 billion ($1.06 billion) will continue digitisation of the Australian Army.

Minister for Defence Industry Christopher Pyne delineated the beneficiaries who will deliver what he called a ‘new battlefield command system for the army’.

Harris Communications Australia (HCA) will deliver the tactical communications network, including encrypted radios. Meanwhile, Elbit Systems of Australia (ELSA) will continue enhancement of the TOR2CH battlefield management system (BMS) software introduced under Tranche 1, as well as integrating new vehicle platforms.
