Australia to acquire new Peregrine EW aircraft
On 18 March, Australia’s DoD confirmed it is acquiring four modified Gulfstream G550 aircraft for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). To be designated the MC-55A Peregrine, these platforms will provide EW support to land, air and naval forces for operations in complex electromagnetic environments.
The quartet of airborne intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and electronic warfare (AISREW) aircraft to be acquired under A$2.46 billion ($1.75 billion) Project Air 555 will be based at RAAF Base Edinburgh near Adelaide in South Australia.
This base is also home to the P-8A Poseidon and the future MQ-4C Triton and MQ-9 Reaper.
