AUSA Global: Harris unveils its US Army Leader Radio

Harris Corporation has unveiled the latest member of its software defined radio (SDR) family, specifically designed for the US Army’s Leader Radio programme.

Described as an ‘army variant’ of Harris Corporation’s own RF-335M (selected as the US Special Operations Forces Tactical Communications’s Next Generation Handheld solution in September 2015), the Falcon III AN/PRC-163 Army Radio comprises a dual-channel voice, data and video solution.

The new radio was unveiled to the market on 26 March 2018 at the AUSA Global Force Symposium in Huntsville, Alabama.

The radio has been designed to support communications for dismounted combat operations at the tactical edge;
