AUSA 2014: Ultra radio show
Ultra Electronics has displayed for the first time its dual channel Orion X505-G radio at AUSA in Washington DC and revealed details of the radio’s laboratory trials.
The new radio is a lightweight compact version of its GRC-245C mesh radio system and is designed for vehicle and small command post operation. It measures 9cm x 19cm x 23cm and weighs about 4.5kg.
The GRC-245C radio is undergoing a proof of concept evaluation with the US Army’s 86th Expeditionary Signal Battalion (ESB) with 30 radios deployed. A company official said Ultra Electronics was confident of eventually being asked to provide these
