AUSA 2013: Raytheon showcases mast-mounted FLIR

Raytheon has displayed its Long-Range Reconnaissance and Surveillance System (LRSS) with FLIR sensor on Danish company Falck Schmidt’s telescopic mast for the first time in the US.

Speaking at the AUSA exhibition, Raytheon project manager Pius Boehm said the installation of the LRSS on a high stable mast was a sign of the step-change in how personnel wanted to operate from their protected vehicles.

Boehm said previous generations wanted 360 degree vision and preferred to look out from the vehicle unprotected.
