USAF amends new radar contract

The US Air Force has modified its solicitation for its new long-range radar to include options for full-rate production (FRP). 

The Three-Dimensional Expeditionary Long-Range Radar (3DELRR) contract is set to be awarded in 2017 and will replace the currently fielded AN/TPS-75 radars.

This is now scheduled to be completed by 2028. 

‘We decided to include these options to leverage the robust, competitive environment and capture competitive pricing for FRP, which was determined to be in the best interest of the government,’ said Col Michael Harm, the Theater Battle Control Division chief and senior materiel leader.
