AFCEA West 2014: Harris targets Apache SALT programme

Harris Corporation expects to gain NSA certification of its family of airborne radios in March as it pursues a variety of potential options for rotary, fixed wing and unmanned platforms.

Speaking to Shephard at the AFCEA West exhibition on 11 February, company officials acknowledged ongoing budgetary issues but described aspirations to get involved in the US Army’s Small Airborne Link 16 Terminal (SALT) programme for Lot 6 AH-64 Apache helicopters ‘and beyond’.

In August, the army contracted ViaSat to integrate the Small Tactical Terminal (STT) KOR-24A on board AH-64E Apaches to satisfy requirements for an Airborne and Maritime/Fixed Station (AMF)
