A-50U aircraft enters Russian service
An upgraded A-50U long-range radar detection and control aircraft has entered into the Russian military transport aviation in Ivanovo, the Russian Ministry of Defence announced on 28 March.
The aircraft will be deployed to detect, track and determine air, large land and sea targets; providing information to command posts, and guiding aircraft to destroy detected targets.
The upgrades to the A-50U included an increase in the flight range, as well as the installation of a radio engineering system with digital signal processing.
