Stretched UK proposes standing invite to EU operations

With the UK government seeking to obtain a ‘standing invitation’ to contribute with the EU’s Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), officials have said that UK forces committed to such operations would no longer be available for other missions.

This indicates that personnel and equipment earmarked for EU security operations may not be able to be re-tasked for national duties, NATO missions and other requirements.
