Singapore requests F-35B from US
The US State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale of F-35B Short Take-Off and Vertical Landing (STOVL) aircraft to Singapore.
In a package worth $2.750 billion, Singapore has requested 12 F-35Bs and related equipment.
The related equipment includes Pratt and Whitney F135 engines, electronic warfare systems; C4I/CNI system; autonomic logistics global support system; autonomic logistics information system; F-35 training system; weapons employment capability and other subsystems, features and capabilities; F-35 unique infrared flares; reprogramming centre access and F-35 performance based logistics; software development/integration; spare and repair parts; and support equipment.
If the sale goes ahead the prime contractors will be Lockheed Martin and Pratt and Whitney.
