In its first media briefing in Asia the newly combined Airbus Defence & Space (D&S) was bullish about its prospects in the region, with projections of a 12.6% increase in sales by 2018 that could bring in €10 billion in sales.
As with many other defence companies, Airbus D&S is pinning high hopes on Asia as it looks to open new markets as those in Europe and the US stall: ‘It’s a major growth area for us,’ explained Christian Scherer, executive VP sales & marketing for Airbus D&S.
