Slovenia approves defence fund to 2026

Slovenia pledges to spend €780 million on weapons, equipment and infrastructure to accelerate the modernisation of its armed forces — but is this enough?

After debating the issue since July, last month the Defence Committee of the Slovenian National Assembly approved a €780 million ($917 million) fund to improve and modernise the armed forces from 2021 to 2026.

The government stated that this budget will be used to provide the most urgent investments in terms of equipment, armaments and infrastructure to ensure basic conditions for long-term solutions and further successful implementations.
