Malaysia outlines this year’s deliveries

The Malaysian Armed Forces will receive AFVs, helicopters and ships this year, but is the Light Combat Aircraft really any closer?

 Malaysia is moving forward with several procurement programmes in 2021, among them the Light Combat Aircraft, special forces weapons and equipment, air defence radar, aviation ground support vehicles and army ground and waterborne military vehicles.

Malaysian Defence Minister Ismail Sabri announced the implementation of the projects in his 2021 address to the MoD and Malaysian Armed Forces, although the minister did not give any details.

However, the special forces equipment and weapon procurement included a separate acquisition for the Defence Special Forces Operations Division formed in 2020. This joint unit draws personnel from the army, navy and air force.
