IDF demands extra funding with Iran in its sights
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is proposing a funding boost for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), citing ongoing tensions with Iran and its proxies in Syria and Lebanon.
Netanyahu and Lt Gen Aviv Kochavi, IDF Chief of General Staff, are seeking an ILS3.3 billion to ILS4.3 billion ($970 million to $1.26 billion) annual injection for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) budget, although sources in the defence establishment indicate that this is an opening gambit towards an eventual compromise of ILS3 billion starting in 2021.
