Paris Air Show 2013: Selex CEO argues for common defence policy
As speculation regarding potential mergers is mounting ahead of the Paris Air Show, one industry player believes that a common defence policy first needs to be established.
European defence companies are faced with the pressing need to rationalise chronic over-capacity in the face of free-falling budgets.
Selex ES CEO Fabrizio Giulianini argued while industry rationalisation was needed, it could only come about if Europe can overcome the political in-fighting that killed off merge negotiations between BAE and EADS at the final hurdle last year.
