Paris Air Show 2013: Boeing faces new realities

Boeing has received a contract to upgrade four French E-3F Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft, as the company continues to reshape itself into a larger international player.

At the Paris Air Show on 17 June, the company announced the $354 million mid-life upgrade was being carried out by its subcontractor Air France Industries (AFI), with work due to be completed by 2016. Boeing is providing engineering support as well as hardware and software for the upgrade.
