US border wall drains funding from military programmes

As debate rages in Washington, DC, on the FY2021 Presidential Budget Request, one of the main sticking points has been the redirecting of funding for DoD programmes to the controversial wall on the US-Mexico border.

The diversion of hundreds of millions of dollars will, if the budget is passed, see the US armed services receive fewer platforms than initially intended at a time when several key military capabilities require modernising or recapitalising.
