Midwest Airlines has announced the launch of nonstop seasonal service between its Milwaukee base and both San Diego and Seattle/Tacoma.

“Midwest Airlines’ commitment to the Wisconsin market has never been stronger,” remarked Greg Aretakis, vice-president of revenue production. “These service additions are in response to our customers’ requests for better service to the west. We are committed to offering Milwaukee’s most daily nonstop flights and best schedule to major destinations. Under the ownership of Republic Airways and in partnership with our sister airline, Frontier, we offer travellers the most complete package of west coast service from Milwaukee, enhanced by convenient connections via Denver and Kansas City.”

The new San Diego service takes off on 19 April while the Seattle/Tacoma service begins on 14 May. Midwest does not currently serve San Diego, though one-stop service is available via Denver on Frontier. The nonstop seasonal service to Seattle/Tacoma is in addition to one-stop service already offered by Midwest and Frontier. The new nonstop San Diego and Seattle/Tacoma flights join Midwest’s existing nonstop service to Los Angeles and nonstop seasonal service to San Francisco beginning on 19 April.

Service to San Diego will be provided on 136-seat Airbus A319 aircraft and service to Seattle/Tacoma will be provided on 99-seat Embraer 190s. Both aircraft feature an all-leather seating configuration and four rows of STRETCH seating with additional legroom at the front of the cabin, buy-onboard meals and snacks, and complimentary baked-onboard chocolate chip cookies. The A319s also offer 24 channels of DIRECTV at each seat.

Aretakis added that Midwest and Frontier together offer more than 100 daily flights from Wisconsin cities. He cited Frontier’s recent addition of nonstop service from both Green Bay and Madison to Denver as further evidence of the airlines’ dedication to serving the travel needs of Badger state residents. Additionally, on 14 May Frontier is launching an additional daily nonstop flight between Milwaukee and Denver, bringing the combined total of Midwest and Frontier flights on the route to six daily.
