Kuwait requests Mk-series munitions from US
The US State Department has made a determination approving a possible foreign military sale of various Mk- series munitions to Kuwait, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency announced on 2 August.
In a package worth $40.4 million, Kuwait has requested to buy 1,020 Mk 82 500lb bombs, 1,002 Mk 83 1000lb bombs and 600 Mk 84 2000lb bombs. The requested package also includes general purpose bomb components and fuzes, support and test equipment, personnel training and training equipment, transportation, facilities and construction and other related elements of logistic and programme support.
Kuwait intends to use these munitions with its current fleet of F/A-18 aircraft. The proposed sale will improve Kuwait's capability to meet current and future threats within the region.
