IDEX 2015: UAE defence dependence to end

The UAE is set to become a regional power with the development of a larger defence industrial base.

Speaking at the IDEX Conference in Abu Dhabi, Homaid Al Shemmari, CEO of Mubadala Aerospace and the Chairman of the newly formed Emirates Defence Industries Company (EDIC) said that although the UAE is a ‘great buyer’ of equipment from the West and more recently Russia and China, they are not happy with that model.
