Germany tells of no ‘substantial’ changes to future procurement targets

The German MoD and industrial base are reporting that key domestic procurements continue to run as scheduled, although the outbreak of COVID-19 is causing catastrophic international operational disruption.

A united front from manufacturers and Berlin, suggesting nothing is amiss during a worsening pandemic, takes on a new significance when the record of delays and cost overruns for items like the Puma IFVA400M and F125 is brought to mind, not to mention that defence activities from budgeting to deployment commitments are unmistakably politically divisive.
