The French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) has worked with the national defence procurement agency DGA, defence innovation body AID and the private sector to create new technology for diagnosing COVID-19.

Presented to the French defence ministry as part of its call for innovative projects, the EasyCoV system was developed by the Sys2Diag research unit and SkillCell. It will receive funding of EUR437,000 ($480,000) for further development

EasyCoV system uses saliva sampling to detect the virus, delivering results in less than one hour. Results are read by a simple change of colour of the tube containing the saliva sample.
