Farnborough: CAE to carry out modernisation of NATO E-3A AWACS
CAE has signed a contract to perform a major modernisation effort of the E-3A flight deck simulator and E-3A flight training device, it has been announced.
The contract was signed with the NATO Airborne Early Warning & Control Program Management Organisation (NAPMO) last week and industry sources revealed that it is worth in excess of C$20 million.
The avionics and cockpit of the E-3A are being modernised from analogue to digital and the upgrading of the simulator will ensure concurrency with the upgrades currently being performed on NATO’s Fleet of E-3A Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft.
