COVID crisis should catalyse deeper cooperation, says EDA chief

Jiří Šedivý officially took the helm at the European Defence Agency (EDA) in early May at a time of unprecedented crisis. With the COVID-19 pandemic set to take a significant toll on defence budgets, European states must increasingly pool their resources and deepen military collaboration, he told Shephard in an exclusive interview.

Šedivý (pictured above) previously served as defence minister and deputy defence minister of the Czech Republic, while he has also held a number of senior roles in NATO, including assistant secretary general for defence policy and planning.
