China, US relationship central at Asian security dialogue

Opening the 12th annual Shangri-La Dialogue, the prime minister of Vietnam, Nguyen Tan Dung, announced that the country would for the first time begin participating in UN peacekeeping missions and affirmed the major part that both China and the US had in ensuring regional security.

'At this prestigious forum, I have the honour to announce that Vietnam has decided to participate in UN peacekeeping operations, first in such areas as military engineering, military medicine and military observation,' Nguyen stated.
