IDEX 2019: American Power Systems to showcase APS-500 alternator regulator
American Power Systems will showcase its new APS-500 alternator regulator to visitors and attendees at IDEX 2019 in Abu Dhabi.
Designed to reduce vehicle downtime and limit equipment and maintenance costs, the APS-500 uses multiple data points – such as battery voltage, current in/out, battery and alternator temperature - to regulate the charging of most commercially available batteries.
‘The APS-500 is able to communicate via control area network communication and may be used with 12- 24- and 48-volt systems, among others. These units are customisable with no hardware changes and represent ideal battery charging for marine- and land-based applications,’ says Amy Lank, president of American Power Systems.
A military variant of the APS-500 with MIL-SPEC connectors is scheduled for release later in 2019.
Founded in 2006, American Power Systems specialises in the design and development of power conversion and distribution systems from 12VDC to 58VDC, up to 10kW for diverse applications.
The company's line of APS products includes high output alternators, custom alternator brackets and onboard DC power generators. APS can be commonly found powering equipment such as transceivers, amplifier kits, communication equipment and counter-IED devices.
