Zen-Rockwell Collins unveil flight simulator for India
Zen Technologies and Rockwell Collins have unveiled a next-generation rotary wing simulator at Aero India 2015, as they team to target the Indian armed forces' emerging helicopter training requirements.
The companies recently signed a memorandum of understanding to combine their simulation and training strengths and offer high-fidelity, advanced aviation solutions for the Indian armed forces. Together, they will produce solutions that aim to provide cost benefits for customers across the region. The developed solutions will be indigenised, including in software, electronics and visuals.
The newly-unveiled next-generation rotary wing simulator is housed in an ergonomically designed cockpit. It is configurable and fully addresses both the flight and mission aspects of rotary wing aircraft. It supports anytime, anywhere training and uses geo-specific cultured terrains, operations flight profiles, and avionics to train both new and experienced pilots before any mission.
Ashok Atluri, managing director, Zen Technologies, said: 'Over the next few years, the Indian defence forces will be strengthening their aircraft portfolio, both fixed and rotary wing. Moreover, there are a number of existing simulators which may need some mid-life upgrades both in terms of technology and aircraft concurrency.
'Therefore, we see a very large opportunity for full mission simulators, flight training devices, and part task trainers, amongst others. Through our association with Rockwell Collins we will be able to fill the existing gap in the flight simulation market in India.'
