Wildcats touch down in South Korea

South Korea welcomed the arrival of its first four Leonardo-Finmeccanica AW159 Wildcat helicopters on 13 June. 

The Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN) will operate these helicopters optimised for anti-submarine warfare (ASW), plus another four due under the same contract, from its Incheon-class guided missile frigates.

Seoul selected the AW159 in January 2013 as part of a US$560 million deal. A spokesman from Leonardo-Finmeccanica told Shephard that the initial four Wildcats completed site acceptance tests in the UK in April.
