Wildcat completes shipboard trials

The UK’s AgustaWestland Wildcat has completed shipboard trials on the HMS Iron Duke.

One of the development aircraft, ZZ402, was subjected to 20 days of SHOL (ship helicopter operating limits) trials operating from the Type 23 frigate.

During two ten-day periods – one in mid-January, the second at the beginning of this month – the aircraft operated from the ship off the South Coast to the Western Approaches, the Irish Sea and the northern shores of Scotland as the frigate searched for suitable weather conditions to lay down the limits for safe Wildcat operations.
