USMC eyes up Super Cobra suitors

The USMC is set to offload a surplus of Bell Helicopter AH-1W Super Cobras to FMS customers.

Details of the development were recently disclosed by the US DoD with the aircraft being made available ‘for depot-level maintenance and modification to meet customer requirements’.

The sources sought notice requests industry to outline its ‘interest and capability’ for manufacturing AH-1W glass cockpits alongside facilitating pilot and maintenance training.

Industry has also been invited to attend an AH-1W attack helicopter day on 24 January by the US Army’s H-1 Light Attack Helicopter Program Office in a bid to further collaborate on manufacturing details.
