US shutdown affects helicopter production

Already impacted by US defence budget cuts and sequestration, Sikorsky has been one of the hardest hit by the US government shutdown with helicopter production suffering.

The production and delivery of helicopters is directly impacted by the furlough of Defence Contract Management Agency inspectors, Sikorsky has claimed.

Although DCMA workers have been deemed ‘non-essential’ by the US government, they are indispensable in the production process.

‘The production and delivery of Sikorsky helicopters for the DoD cannot proceed without the help of our valued Defence Contract Management Agency partners who have been furloughed due to the government shutdown,’ Sikorsky said
