US Navy continues MH-53 crash recovery

The United States Navy has resumed search and recovery operations at the crash site of the downed MH-53E, after dive operations were suspended due to adverse weather conditions on 10 January. 

On 12 January, the salvage ship USNS Grasp, accompanied by navy divers from Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit 2 (MDSU 2), returned to the crash site located some 29 km off Cape Henry. Patrol boats from Coastal Riverine Squadron 2 are providing security. 

'Sailors from MDSU 2 have expanded the search area and are using a Remus unmanned underwater vehicle for high-resolution bottom mapping of the crash site,’
