Argentina requests US helicopters
The US State Department has approved a potential foreign military sale (FMS) to Argentina for Bell 412EP helicopters and associated equipment, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency announced on 18 November.
The estimated cost of the package is $80 million. If it goes ahead, Bell Helicopter Textron will be the prime contractor for the sale.
Four Bell 412EP Helicopters have been requested under the FMS, along with Bell 412EP helicopter major components, spare parts, tools, publications, pilot and maintenance training, preparation of the aircraft for shipment, ground support equipment, and US government technical assistance.
The Argentinian government has requested the helicopters to support various missions, including search and rescue operations, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, peacekeeping support, and scientific operations in the Antarctic.
