US Army bullish about Lakota order

The US Army wasted little time taking the next step in buying 35 new UH-72 Lakota aircraft from Airbus Helicopters last week, and says it is prepared to move forward without a competitive process.

The service announced, on 12 January, that it now has a ‘sole source requirement [to] supplement the army's existing fleet of UH-72 aircraft’.

‘This proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source — Airbus Helicopters,’ the notice adds on the US Federal Business Opportunities site.
