US approves CH-47F helicopters sale to Spain
The US State Department has made a determination approving a potential foreign military sale of CH-47F helicopters to Spain, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency announced on 5 April.
The estimated cost of the sale is $1.3 billion.
Spain has requested 17 CH-47F cargo helicopters with customer-specific modifications, 21 AN/AAR-57A (V)8 Common Missile Warning Systems and 42 embedded GPS/INS. Also included in the package request is mission equipment, hardware and services, communication, aircraft survivability equipment and navigation equipment including AN/ARC-231 multi-mode radios, AN/ARC-201D SINCGARS radios, AN/ARC-220 high frequency radio, and the radar signal detecting set AN/APR-39A(V)1.
If the deal goes ahead, Boeing will be the prime contractor.
