US accelerates CV-22 stationing in Japan

Five Bell-Boeing CV-22 Ospreys belonging to the USAF were unloaded from a ship at the port of Yokohama in Japan on 4 April. 

This is significant because the first CV-22s, which are flown by the USAF Special Operations Command, were not expected to deploy to Japan until 2020, according to a previously announced timeline.

US Forces Japan (USFJ) issued a press release on 3 April to announce that the aircraft would arrive at Yokota Air Base ‘later this week’.
