UK MoD orders Hellfire missiles

The UK MoD has placed a £29 million urgent operational requirement order to purchase AGM-114 Hellfire missiles from Lockheed Martin, it has been confirmed.

The order will re-stock and support the UK's supply of weapons.

According to Lockheed Martin, the missiles, which come in a mix of variants, are a follow-on order from an existing order that is due to be completed in October this year. The latest contract calls for delivery throughout 2013.

The missiles will be cleared and certified for use on the Apache helicopter, while Lockheed Martin UK facility at Ampthill has also been awarded a supplementary
