Lutra Associates has delivered two helicopter safety trainers to the UK Joint Helicopter Command, it announced on 26 March.

The company was contracted to deliver the operating units, one each for Merlin and Puma. The helicopter safety trainers will be used to train troops in safety drills, disembarkation and embarkation.

With the delivery complete, Lutra Associates and its partner, Oxford Specialist Coachbuilders, will conduct a training programme for the trainers and manual certification of the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force instructors at the UK Joint Helicopter Command.

The helicopter safety trainers are based on ISO container frames and have hydraulic jacking legs to facilitate easy vehicle loading and road transport.
