Tigre gets called up

The French Army has been given the final green light to deploy its Eurocopter Tigres to Afghanistan.

The decision to send the helicopter to an operational theatre was announced on June 5 by French Defence minister Herve Morin.

It has been a long-awaited by senior figures in the French Army and also Eurocopter who have been keen to get the aircraft 'combat tested'.

“The president of the Republic gave his agreement” said Mr Morin who said the deployment would take place this summer adding that the aircraft would replace the three Gazelle Vivianes operating in Afghanistan's RCC Capital and work
