Three companies shortlisted for JMR TD

The US Army appears to be keeping its options open as the service moves to develop a next-generation rotorcraft able to replace both the AH-64 Apache and UH-60 Blackhawk.

Three companies have been shortlisted as part of the Joint Multi-Role Technology Demonstrator (JMR TD) effort, which serves as the foundation of the army’s Future Vertical Lift (FVL) – Medium programme.

AVX Aircraft Company, Bell Helicopter and the Boeing/Sikorsky team have been deemed to have provided ‘Category 1’ proposals and will now begin negotiations for a JMR TD contract expected to be awarded in September 2013.
