Thales, SAVIC team for Chinese helicopter market
Thales and Shanghai AVIC (SAVIC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will see the two companies offer joint solutions to the Chinese helicopter market. The MoU was announced on 11 November.
The joint solution will be based on the Thales TopDeck certified helicopter avionics suite, with SAVIC bringing local expertise of systems integration, software development, customer support and through-life services.
The TopDeck avionics suite is designed to enhance safety levels for helicopter crews and passengers. SAVIC has already developed a number of avionics suites for Chinese helicopters and its experience in software customisation will allow for rapid adaptation of TopDeck to equip new Chinese helicopters and to modernise existing ones.
Olivier Guibert, vice president, Northern Asia, and country director China, Thales, said: ‘Through long term cooperation, we aim to build our presence in China and further develop our joint efforts with the Chinese helicopter industry. The teaming agreement we’re signing today will enable us to offer safe, state-of-the-art and competitive solutions to the Chinese market.’
WANG Jinyan, president, SAVIC, added: ‘Thanks to the partnership with Thales, SAVIC can bring to Chinese customers comprehensive certified avionics suites tailored to their requirements at affordable price.’
