Thirty of the US Army’s divested TH-67 Creek helicopters are heading to South America to provide initial helicopter training for allied militaries across the region.

As part of its comprehensive aviation restructure, the service will retire 35 TH-67s in FY16 as the training role transitions over to the UH-72 Lakota while 66 OH-58D helicopters are also being divested over the period.

According to Col Brian Tachias, chief of staff to Programme Executive Officer, Aviation, the TH-67s are currently being transferred to US Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM) where they will take over from OH-58As at the Regional Helicopter Training Center (RHTC)
